Leora Ghadoushi
Founder & Principal Attorney · Magen Law

Leora is the founder of Magen Law. Prior to Magen Law, Leora practiced employment law at leading national employment law firms, including Fisher Phillips and Sheppard Mullin, where she represented Fortune 100 companies and high-profile clients in high-stakes litigation and sensitive employment issues. That experience gives her a clear understanding of how employers assess risk and defend cases — insight she uses to advocate effectively for her clients.

Her practice includes wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and trade secret matters. She focuses on practical, strategic solutions.

She earned her law degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Raised in a family of small business owners, Leora brings a practical understanding of employment challenges, which informs her straightforward and solutions-oriented approach.

Clients value her for being responsive, clear, and easy to work with. She offers the level of insight and strategy associated with large firms, with the accessibility and attention of a boutique practice.

California employment law is a specialty within a specialty. It requires counsel who has lived inside its most complex version and can bring that experience to bear for any client, on any matter.

What We Handle

Employee Matters

Wrongful & Constructive Termination

California employers cannot legally fire you for discriminatory, retaliatory, or other illegal reasons. If your employer made your working conditions so intolerable that you had no choice but to resign, California law may treat it as a wrongful termination. Our experienced California wrongful termination lawyers fight to recover lost wages, emotional distress damages, and more.

Harassment & Discrimination

Workplace harassment or discrimination based on race, age, gender, pregnancy, religion, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics is illegal under California and federal law. Whether it is overt or subtle, you have the right to a hostile-free workplace and to hold your employer accountable.

Wage, Hour & Unpaid Overtime

California has some of the nation's strictest wage and hour laws. If your employer failed to pay overtime, minimum wage, missed meal or rest breaks, or misreported your hours, you may be owed significant back pay, penalties, and interest. We help employees recover what they are rightfully owed.

Retaliation & Whistleblower

If your employer retaliated against you for reporting illegal activity, filing a complaint, requesting accommodations, or standing up for your rights, California's strong anti-retaliation and whistleblower laws may protect you.

Leave & Accommodation

California law requires employers to provide protected medical leave, family leave, pregnancy disability leave, and reasonable accommodations for disabilities or religious needs. If your request was ignored, delayed, or denied, you may have a strong claim.

Severance

Never sign a severance agreement without experienced review. Employers often include broad releases that waive valuable rights in exchange for minimal payment. Magen Law can review your severance offer to protect your interests and negotiate better terms.

Breach of Contract

Promises in employment contracts, offer letters, policies, or even verbal agreements can be legally binding in California. When employers breach these obligations, such as failing to pay bonuses, commissions, or provide promised benefits, we help enforce your rights.

Sexual Assault

When sexual assault or battery happens in a workplace context, California civil law gives survivors a path to accountability and compensation that exists entirely separate from the criminal system.

Employer Matters

Employment Policies & Handbooks

Outdated employment policies and handbooks create significant liability in California's rapidly changing legal environment. This firm drafts and updates compliant handbooks and policies that properly protect the business and are carefully tailored to the company's specific industry, stage of growth, and operational needs.

Wage & Hour Compliance

California's wage and hour rules are complex and aggressively enforced. This firm conducts proactive compliance reviews and helps employers avoid costly claims, penalties, and class actions.

Harassment Prevention & Training

California requires harassment prevention training, but effective training does far more than meet legal minimums. This firm delivers high-quality training and policies that foster respectful workplaces and strengthen legal defenses.

Employee Discipline & Investigations

Thorough investigations and proper documentation are critical to defensible employment decisions. This firm assists employers with fair, well-documented investigations and disciplinary processes that hold up under scrutiny.

Worker Classification

Misclassifying workers as independent contractors under California's strict standards can create massive retroactive liability. This firm helps businesses correctly classify workers and avoid or defend against misclassification claims.

Growing Company Counsel

From the first hire onward, California employment laws create ongoing obligations and risks. This firm's deep litigation experience provides unique insight into what actually triggers claims, allowing practical, battle-tested strategies that prevent expensive problems before they arise.

★★★★★

Leora is fantastic. She took ample time to understand how my business runs before chiming in. A lot of attorneys are in a rush to get out of a consult, but Leora was really focused and present and didn't pressure me whatsoever. I left our meeting feeling really prepared to address the topics we covered. 10/10 would recommend Attorney Leora to anyone dealing with any kind of workplace situation!

★★★★★

I'm in the real estate business in Los Angeles and got to a point where I knew I needed real guidance on the employment side before continuing to scale. Between California's rules on independent contractors, commission pay, and hiring generally, there's a lot that can go wrong if you're not careful. I brought these questions to Magen Law and got exactly the kind of direction I was looking for. Leora helped me map out how to structure things properly. What I valued most was how she approached everything from a practical standpoint, focused on what actually works for a growing business, not just what's written in the law. If you're building a team in Los Angeles and want to get ahead of employment issues instead of reacting to them later, I'd absolutely point you her way.

★★★★★

I reached out to Magen Law when I was in the early stages of building my business and starting to hire employees, and I'm so glad I did. Leora helped me think through everything from an employment perspective in a way that actually made sense and felt manageable. She's incredibly knowledgeable but also very practical. She gave me clear guidance I could actually use, not just legal theory. I also really appreciated how responsive and thoughtful she was throughout the process. As a first-time founder, it made a huge difference having someone I could trust to guide me and help me avoid mistakes early on. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone starting a business or dealing with employment issues.
